The Walk for Arthritis is a one-day community-based event that raises much needed funds for the more than 6 million Canadians suffering from Arthritis.
This past weekend, the Walk for Arthritis celebrated its 10-year anniversary. Held in 33 different communities across Canada, thousands showed up ready and eager to reach their fundraising goals.
OGC acro was pleased to be invited to be a part of this year’s event and on Sunday, June 2, athletes from OGC’s P3 and P4 acro groups made sure to pull out all the stops to entertain the crowds at the Mississauga location of the Walk.
Coach Alyssa prepared her athletes by creating a short routine that enabled them to showcase their acro skills, individuals, tumbling, along with some dance elements. The response from the audience was overwhelmingly positive as for many, this was their first exposure to the discipline.
This was a great opportunity for the athletes to demonstrate what they do to the broader community but more importantly, the group was enormously grateful to simply be a part of such an inspiring event that benefits so many people across the country.
Accompanied by Coach Alyssa Belford, OGC participants included: Ella Fedoration, Maya Borg, Emerson Wong, Meleana Yazdiani, Malak Mohamed, Lauren Marttila, Jorden Diana, Amytis Damad, Alexandra Kim-Lemay, Sara Meneses, and Gaby Swan.
