Chloe Vurro is currently a Level 5 National Level Tumbler. She has been in the gym almost her whole life. She was 4 years old when she started competitive gymnastics, and 10 years old when she started power tumbling. Now at 14 years old, Chloe is competing across Ontario and Canada with the Oakville Gymnastics Club.
The sport of power tumbling is one of the most dynamic of gymnastics – blending the skills from the artistic tumbling and many aspects of trampoline. For Chloe, the best part of tumbling is learning new skills, but also making awesome friends at the gym.
Through gymnastics, Chloe has been able to travel with her teammates as an athlete, and her most memorable moment was when she mobilized to Level 5 at the Eastern Championships.
Chloe currently trains 14 hours a week with her teammates and her coaches, Donald Holmes and Brandon Jary. “Chloe is such a hard worker,” says Coach Don. “She’s also very tough and really pushes herself to the max. She’s a great example for her teammates and a real team player.”
Right now, Chloe is working on double opens, and this season, her goals are to mobilize to Level 6 and to place first in a competition. Good luck, Chloe! Some of the best advice Chloe can give to someone looking to get into tumbling is, “Work hard, don’t give up when it’s tough. Try extra hard on the days you are tired, and listen and trust your coaches.” Wiser words were never said.
During her down
time, when not training, Chloe likes to hang out with her friends and family. She
is also active in school sports (so many of them!) and loves taking part in
school plays. Chloe loves horror movies, and Scream is probably one of her favourites, she declares! And when she is not hanging out with her friends or at the gym,
she’s probably enjoying all the food! Why? Because not one food is her
favourite. There are too many good things to choose!
Finally, her inspirational quote: “No one cares, work harder.” It reminds me to have no excuses in training, says Chloe. So very true.
