Our very own Oakville Gymnastics WAG athletes, Jada Yip-Janiere (competing in the Junior category) and Gabriella Graniero (competing in the Novice category) attended their FIRST EVER Elite Canada competition last weekend which was hosted in Calgary, Alberta with their loving, hard working and very supportive coach Lena Yermolchuk.
Both our athletes made it to day 2 (top 32 qualified athletes) after competing in their categories with a bit of a nervous and under the weather start. Jada took 2nd place on vault with an outstanding score of 13.7 in her flight and also Gabriella qualified to day 2 in 28th place out of a total of 45 athletes.
Day 2 was an amazing day for both our girls.
Jada took 2nd place on vault and Gabriella took 5th place on bars.
Jada making High Performance status in top 18 and Gabriella in top 24 athletes. Jada has been invited to attend a National Team Hopefuls Training Camp in March.
They will both be competing at the International Gymnix competition along side some of their teammates and coaches next month also being held in Quebec. We wish all our athletes the best of luck!
Congratulations to both Jada and Gabriella for a job well done. We are very proud of all your hard work and determination and can’t wait to see what your future holds! Also a special thank you to their coaches Lena, Sandra, Alek and Irena who have put so much time and effort into not only these two girls but all our amazing and talented WAG athletes. They couldn’t have done it without you!
